In every day, more than thousands of people living their birthplace or their countries for secure their future. People are always trying to improvement their lifestyle that’s why they leave their home even their countries but sometimes they are trafficked by the traffickers.
In every year, millions of men, women and children are trafficked by the trafficker around the whole world including the United States (US). It is estimated that billions dollar of business is human trafficking. Most vulnerable people are targeted by the traffickers. Human trafficking is a most profitable business that traffickers gain and this is an incentive for them to continue their business. Poverty, lack of proper education and social awareness, demand for cheap labor or demand for sex are major causes of human trafficking.
People in poverty are targeted by the traffickers because they offer them to earn a good amount of money. Again lack of education lead to decrease to get a good job. The demand for cheap labor and for commercialized sex are closely connected to human trafficking. Smuggling is one of them, as many migrants can fall victim to forced labor along their journey. Smugglers may force migrants to work in inhumane conditions to pay for their illegal passage across borders.
In January 31, 2020 President Donald Trump delivered his speech at the White House on the 20th anniversary of the Traffickers Victims Protection Act of 2000. He said that National Human Trafficking Hotline identified 23,000 human trafficking victims in the United State (US) in 2018. Among of them 65% victims were women more than 1 in 5 were children. Around 25 million people in the world today are being captive manipulated abused by human traffickers.
Sometimes all victims of trafficking can be affected physically, psychologically and socially. Trafficking victims often suffer serious physical consequences due to overwork or the use of violence by traffickers. Victims may also be exposed to serious health risks such as HIV / AIDS and serious mental health risks.
Anxiety, insecurity, fear and trauma are all products of human trafficking. Several studies have indicated high levels of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in people who have previously been treated. Trafficking in human beings can also lead to cognitive decline, memory loss, depression and even suicide.
In my point of view, to create a good number of working opportunities, educate the vulnerable citizen; incising public awareness may contribute to reduce the percentage of human trafficking.
